Job Position: Poultry Farm Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
1. Flock Health and Welfare:
Ø Monitor bird health, behavior, and performance daily.
Ø Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian.
Ø Implement and manage effective nutrition and feeding programs.
Ø Maintain optimal environmental conditions within poultry houses (temperature, ventilation, humidity, and lighting).
Ø Identify and address signs of stress, disease, or injury promptly.
Ø Ensure humane handling and care of all birds in compliance with animal welfare standards.
2. Operational Management:
Ø Oversee all daily farm activities, including feeding, watering, litter management, and egg collection (if applicable).
Ø Manage bird inventory, tracking mortality, feed conversion ratios (FCR), and production rates.
Ø Coordinate the placement of new chicks/poults and the depopulation/transport of market-ready birds.
Ø Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment (feeders, drinkers, ventilation systems, etc.).
Ø Maintain accurate and detailed production, health, and operational records.
3. Biosecurity and Sanitation:
Ø Enforce and uphold strict farm-wide biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreak.
Ø Manage access control for personnel and visitors.
Ø Oversee cleaning and disinfection procedures for poultry houses, equipment, and vehicles between flocks.
Ø Ensure proper disposal of mortality and waste in accordance with environmental regulations.
4. Team Leadership and Training:
Ø Supervise, train, and schedule farm staff and assistants.
Ø Foster a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
Ø Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
5. Compliance and Reporting:
Ø Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
Ø Adhere to company standards, animal welfare audit criteria (e.g., NPIP, GAP), and food safety programs.
Ø Prepare and submit regular reports on farm performance to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
· Diploma or equivalent; degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field is strongly preferred.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a commercial poultry production environment.
· Proven knowledge of poultry diseases, vaccination protocols, and general flock health management.
· Strong mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting farm equipment.
· Ability to work independently, manages multiple priorities, and solves problems effectively.
· Excellent communication and leadership skills.
· Must be physically able to perform demanding tasks in various environmental conditions (walk long distances, work in dust/ammonia).
Preferred:
· Previous supervisory or management experience.
· Certification in poultry production or animal welfare.
· Experience with specific poultry types (broilers, layers, turkeys, breeders)
· Work Environment & Physical Demands
· This role is primarily based on a farm and involves extensive time in poultry houses.
· Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings as required by the flock's needs. On-call availability for emergencies is essential.
· Exposure to dust, feathers, ammonia, and varying weather conditions is expected.
· The role requires physical stamina for lifting, bending, and long periods of standing/walking.
